Big 3 hold sale of land in Mahendranagar

MAHENDRANAGAR: Three largest parties in Mahendranagar have decided not to sale the plots of land that were being sold by the Mahendranagar Town Development Committee until the promulgation of the new constitution and new mechanisms were in put in place.

UCPN-Maoists, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML made the decision in a meeting held under the chairmanship of the Maoist district in-charge Devidutta Pandeya.

The meeting was attended by NC district president Bal Bahadur Singh Thapa and UML district chairman Ishwori Prasad Kharel among others.

Municipal Development Committee had sold 40 katthas of land at discounted rates in a bid to manage the financial resources for ongoing construction of the City Hall.

Out of total six hundreds bighas of land owned by the Town Development Committee, around 550 bighas of land has already been sold.

Leaders expressed their worries saying that the Committee would not have any land if the sale was not stopped immediately.

They have also agreed to form a committee to monitor the land encroached by India in the areas including Pyaratal and to seek inter-party collaboration for the development of the district.
