BIRGUNJ, JANUARY 4

The Parsa Police have taken control of three trucks, along with goods worth around 20 million, which had left Birgunj for various parts of the country, carrying goods exceeding the value mentioned in the bill, on Wednesday.

According to information officer of District Police Office, Parsa, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kumar Bikram Thapa, the three trucks had left Birgunj for Kailali, Sunsari, and Kathmandu.

The trucks with registration numbers (Naa.4Kha 8318), (Gandak No.15, 8 14 15) and NL-01-G-1886) were stopped for inspection at Ghantaghar, and Pratima Chowk in Birgunj Metropolitan City-8 during which they were brought under control after finding goods exceeding the bill value, informed DSP Thapa.

The police have estimated the value of the seized goods to be approximately Rs 18,997,287, following which the seized goods and trucks have been handed over to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathlaiya, Bara for further investigation.

Meanwhile, police have not provided any information regarding the owner of the goods and transport company involved.

Additionally, the Armed Police Force, Number 13 Battalion in Parsa, along with other units, seized smuggled goods worth around Rs 2.4 million in a single day. On January 1, the Armed Police, from various locations in Parsa district, seized goods such as onions, kurta sarwal, fabric for clothing, and metals, estimated at around Rs 2.4 million and handed them over to Birgunj Custom Office for further actions.

According to Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police, Sangam Shrestha, a mobile team seized illegally imported clothes worth Rs 532,600 from four individuals who were smuggling them by carrying in their head from Ward No. 2 of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Similarly, a mobile team seized smuggled clothes worth Rs 61,000 from six individuals who had smuggled them from India and brought them to Nepal from Ward No. 1 of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Moreover, a mobile team stationed in Ward No. 3 of Jhawaiya in Bindhyavasini Rural Municipality seized four bicycles that were added with 540 kilograms of bronze looking metal in them worth Rs 61,900, smuggled illegally from India to Nepal, DSP Shrestha said.

Additionally, a team deployed from a battalian inWard No. 19 of Birgunj seized a truck( Pradesh 2-03-001 Cha 5489) loaded with 33kg onions worth Rs 198,000, informed DSP Shrestha.
