Blacktopping of Dhadingbesi-Salayantar road begins

DHADING: The blacktopping of Dhadingbesi-Salyantar road section in Dhading district has finally begun after 24 years of construction.

The 26-kilometre road section links district headquarters Dhadingbesi with Arughat of Gorkha district, according to the road project.

Project Chief Nabin Man Shrestha said, "We are working with an objective of completing road upgradation and blacktopping within this fiscal year."

He further said that 60 per cent of the upgrading and tarmacking of the road stretch has been completed so far.

Due to delay in construction of the road, people residing in north-east of Dhading and Gorkha districts were adversely affected.

With the completion of the project, the road will link wards 8, 9 and 10 of Nilkantha Municipality with Tripurasundari, Ganga-Jamuna and Jwalamukhi Rural Municipalities, among others, in the area.

Lama Construction Pvt Ltd had signed an agreement on January 07, 2017 to complete the project within two years. The project is estimated to cost Rs 70.11 million.

Earlier, the road was constructed with the technical support of German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ) in 1985.
