Blacktopping of six-lane road begins

Dhangadi, November 27

Two-and-a-half-years since the upgradation of the Mohana Bridge-Attariya road began, its black-topping started recently.

Earlier, the locals on the roadside had been demanding early completion of the road construction citing the problems they were facing due to dusk and smoke. The black-topping is under way by dividing the road into three sections.

As per sources with the Six Lane Road Construction Project Office, work to install the prime coat for the black-topping at Milan Chowk and Bhansar Chowk in the first section is under way.

Work to install prime coat in the second and third sections of the road will be completed in a couple of days.

“We will first black-top up to 700-800 metres in each road section in the selected places following the technical test of the black-topping. The remaining stretches will also be black-topped,” said project chief Hom Bahadur MC.

The upgradation work to widen the existing road into a six-lane road had started from June 2017 with the stipulated deadline of  2 years for completion of the project. Though the contract of the road project expired this June, construction work hasn’t stopped.

With the construction companies initiating a process to get an extension of the contract, they have now started black-topping the 14.2 km road from Mohana Bridge to Attariya bazaar.
