BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, which is operating a separate COVID Hospital, has been performing complicated surgeries on COVID patients.

The hospital has performed surgeries on 20 COV- ID patients so far after the second wave of COVID-19 began. According to a source, BPKIHS is the only hospital that has been conducting complicated surgery on COVID patients outside Kathmandu Valley. This has given relief to COVID patients of provinces 1 and 2, said BPKIHS Spokesperson Dr Churamani Pokhrel.

A team of neurosurgeons led by Alok Dahal has conducted neuro-surgery on three COVID patients.

A team of doctors comprising Rakesh Gupta, Suresh Prasad Sah, Nirmal Sah, Rupesh Sah, Bhawani Khanal, Bijay Shrestha performed surgery on seven persons.

Likewise, doctors from gynaecology department have operated on eight COVID-infected women and delivered babies.
