Suspension bridge linking Nuwakot-Rasuwa collapses

NUWAKOT: A suspension bridge over the Phalakhu River that linked Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts has collapsed after a flood damaged the pillar of the bridge last night.

Likewise, more than a dozen houses in the area of Nuwakot are at risk of inundation.

The movement, however, was not affected as another bridge near the location is left undamaged, said Shashi Dangol, a local.

The bridge was constructed with support from the Government of Scotland in 2004 BS.

It was also the first bridge that connected outer districts to Rasuwa and helped flourish Nepal's trade towards China en route to Rasuwagadhi.
