KATHMANDU, MAY 29
The Nepal government will now provide old age allowance under the social security program from the age of 68.
Minister for Finance Janardan Sharma while presenting the budget of the upcoming fiscal year 2079/80 announced that the old age allowance will now be allocated from the age of 68 years.
The earlier provision as opposed to the now-announced decision, provided old age allowance from the age of 70.
The elderly citizens have been benefitting a sum of NRs 4,000 each month under the social security program.
Meanwhile, announcing the budget, Finance Minister Sharma said that the government would welcome any person who voluntarily declares not to receive social security allowance.
