MAHENDRANAGAR:Police arrested Tek Raj Joshi, a resident of Suda VDC in Kanchanpur district, on Saturday on the charge of murdering Indian businessman Bishal Jain. Jain’s body was found five days after he was kidnapped on May 16.

Organising a press conference, the district police office had made public the detainee, along with the materials confiscated from Joshi. Police had seized one home-made pistol, a mobile set, a motorcycle, Rs 88,500 and a phone diary.

Joshi, a district member of UCPN-Maoist, was expelled from the party on Sunday.

Police said the bullet found in Jain’s body matched the bullets seized from Joshi’s house. Police had excavated the pistol used by Joshi from a ground near Joshi’s house.

Jain was manager of

Sundarpur-based Kathha factory in Suda VDC, Kanchanpur. His body was found from Puranpani jungle of Daiji VDC4, Kanchanpur.

Jain was abducted while he was heading to his rented room in Mahendranagar bazaar from the factory. Six abductors on two motorcycles had seized Jain’s motorcycle as well. The police had held Joshi in judicial custody for seven days as per the order of the district court, SP Madhav Nepal said, adding that Joshi was the mastermind behind the murder. According to the police, the victim’s family had filed a case against Joshi. The motive behind the murder was yet to be found, added SP Nepal.

A resident of Agra in India’s Uttar Pradesh, Jain had started working in the factory just four months ago. Jain had replaced his relative Rajesh Jain as manager in Baijanath Kathha Udhyog.
