CA election winner has murder case against him

Rupandehi, April 15:

Om Prakash Yadav (Guljari), who won in the constitution assembly election from Rupandehi constituency number 2, has a murder case against him pending at the district court.

He has been blamed for his alleged involvement in the murder of Jitendra and Seshmani, two district level Young Communist League (YCL) leaders, last year.

Guljari, who filed his candidacy from the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum, defeated Nepali Congress central leader Ram Krishna Tamrakar with a wide margin.

Local residents and leaders of other political parties are surprised to see Yadav’s unexpected victory.

He had filed his candidacy and won the election even without appearing in front of the voters in his constituency.

He had filed his candidacy through his representatives.

Guljari’s victory is a surprise. He has not even shown up in Bhairahawa, Krishna KC,

a local, said.

Eyewitnesses said Guljari had come while counting of votes was in progress and took the certificate of winning the election and went out.

Rupandehi district police office chief SP Rabiraj Shrestha said that they have been inquiring from the Home Ministry about the legal procedure related with Guljari.

Shrestha said: “The government and the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum had reached an agreement to dismiss all cases against the MJF cadres.”

Rupandehi district chief of CPN-Maoist Basanta Shrestha blamed the election commission of accepting the candidacy of a person against whom there is a criminal case pending in the court.

However, Rupandehi-2 election officer and Rupandehi district court judge Narayan Prasad Dhital said they had accepted Yadav’s candidacy because the court had not labelled him a criminal.

His case will proceed as per the legal provisions, he told this daily.
