CA polls only if 7-parties reach pact: Mahara

Dang, December 23:

Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara today said that the CA polls will be held if the top political leadership and the all party meet reached a common agreement today.

Speaking to journalists in Ghorahi, he said: “The seven parties are trying to reach an agreement and the CA polls will be held if the leadership and the all-party meet reach an agreement today. Whatever agreement is made should be honestly implemented.”

“All parties agree that the CA polls should be held but the elements who oppose the change are active these days,” he said.

Foreign forces have the key to Nepali government, but the seven parties are committed to

handle the country by themselves, Mahara said.

“The agitations launched since 1950 were also efforts to take control of the key to the government and if the seven parties are not ready to take it by themselves, the people will take it,” he said.

When asked about Tarai problems, he said: “The government has made special security provision in eight Tarai districts; however, 23 armed organisations are preparing to fight against the move. It is dangerous and the Nepali Congress might have played a dual role in this regard.”

Regarding formation of a joint leftists’ front, he said: “We have realised that a joint front is a difficult issue and there are a lots of differences to be solved for this. Moreover, the issue of unification of left parties is terrifying other groups.”

Mahara was here to inspect the building of Dang chapter of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ).

He expressed commitment of providing support for the construction of the FNJ Dang building.

Mahara arrived in Dang to inaugurate Radio Ganatantra Rapti established by Shanti Pariwartan Sanchar Sahakari Samstha Limited yesterday.
