Cabinet decides to pay stir victims

Kathmandu, August 22:

The Council of Ministers has decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of 18 persons who died during protests and clashes in Magh last year.

The Cabinet meeting held on August 20 and 21 at the PM’s residence decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of 27 persons who were killed in Gour incident, family of Mangal Bahadur Gamarchhan who was killed during Chure Bhabar movement and the families of Nirmal Rajbamshi and Tallu Hemaram who were killed during the movement of indigenous nationalities.

Information minister, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, issuing a press statement here today, said the meeting also decided to provide Rs 2 lakh each to the families of Chandra Bahadur Katuwal and others who were declared dead.

The Cabinet also decided to provide Rs 150,000 each to the families of missing persons, namely Rajendra Prasad Dhakal, Bipin Bhandari and Dil Bahadur Rai, Rs 100,000 each to the families of 59 persons whose whereabouts have not been ascertained.
