KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 13

Stakeholders have urged the preservation of Pathibhara's unique religious and cultural heritage.

At an interaction organized on Thursday by the Yuma Mang Mukkumlung Pathibhara Protection Coordination Committee, speakers expressed concerns over attempts to undermine the site's religious and cultural identity under the guise of physical infrastructure development.

They argued that Pathibhara should not be reduced to a mere geographic landmark, emphasizing its significance as a sacred site for Sanatan religious communities worldwide.

Mukkumlung Protection Campaigner Chandrahang Kirat stated that the temple priest and the Pathibhara Temple Area Management Committee were being silenced.

Similarly, religious site researcher Bhim Pandey stressed the need for a strong and influential network to safeguard the country's religious and cultural heritage.

Speakers also claimed that efforts were underway to erode sites representing Eastern philosophy and civilization.

Rishikesh Jung Shah, Chairman of the World Hindu Youth Federation, called for scrapping the proposed cable car project in the Pathibhara area, warning that such developments could compromise the site's sanctity.

Former Bagmati Province Assembly member Jiban Dangol, Hindu Jagaran Nepal Chairman Ramkrishna Upadhyay, and other speakers emphasized the urgent need to raise awareness and take action to protect the country's religious and cultural landmarks.
