CHITWAN, DECEMBER 6

Religious leaders have spoken of the need of a religious movement to exert pressure for reinstating Nepal as a Hindu state.

Participants t a gathering organised by the World Hindu Federation at Bharatpur of Chitwan yesterday, expressed concern about the 'imposition' of secularism in the country.

Federation central Chair Ramchandra Adhikari said the movement to restore Hindu state should be launched from Chitwan and spread nationwide.

He utilised the forum to claim that there remained no dispute about leadership in the Federation and the dispute that had surfaced in its international committee had proceeded towards a solution.

Federation General-secretary Ganesh Prasad Neupane called for unity among like-minded people for the protection of religion. He charged that Nepal's status as Hindu state was dismissed due to the vested interest of political parties.

He argued that Vedic Sanatan religion believed in equal existence of all religions and that was why Nepal should be re-declared a Hindu nation.

Federation secretary Netranath Poudel urged the masses to vote for the party carrying the agenda of Nepal as Hindu state in the election.

He was of the view that banning the supply and consumption of meat and alcohol in religious areas was needed to keep the glory of Hindu religion intact.

He said he was ready to lead the movement for Hindu state from Chitwan and needed the support of all like-minded people.
