Case filed against woman for dumping infant in Siraha
Siraha, January 24
Police have registered a case against a woman for dumping a newborn in Siraha.
Locals had reported to police after they noticed a stray child in a haystack in a mango grove at Sidiyotole of Golbazaar Municipality last Monday.
Pinki Saday, aged 28, of Balkawaki at Golbazaar Municipality had turned herself at Area Police Office Golbazaar claiming that the child belonged to her. Police took Saday under control after an investigation showed that the child was hers, said a source.
DSP Madhavraj Kharel of Siraha District Police Office said Pinky was remanded to custody by the district court after a case for throwing the new-born was filed against her.
A police investigation disclosed that Pinki had given birth to the baby from an illicit physical relationship with Jagadish Saday of Laxmipur Patari Rural Municipality after her husband left for employment in Dubai two years ago. Pinki admitted to the police that she had thrown the new-born into the haystack on the 12th day of its birth to cover up the incident, said Inspector Nabin Ghimire.
