Chief of Karnali Province Govinda Prasad Kalauni has appreciated the provincial government for its proactive role in ensuring public health security during the coronavirus pandemic and for providing job opportunities through the Chief Minister Employment Programme.

Kalauni said this in his message on the third establishment day of Karnali Province government yesterday "Chief Minister Employment Programme, integrated settlements development, bank accounts for girls, disaster insurance scheme for citizens, laws drafting, development of health care infrastructure and service expansion, agriculture and tourism have been accorded due priority," Province Chief Kalauni said.

He stated that the lifestyle of people in the province could be uplifted through agriculture if commercial and modern farming as well as organic agricultural production was increased.

Kalauni stressed the need of infrastructure development, tourism promotion, and collection, production, and processing of medicinal herbs in the province.

Also speaking at the programme, Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi said that expected results were not seen due to the province's poor economic and social indicators as well as difficult geographic terrain compared to other provinces in the country.

He, however, said that the foundation for development had been prepared by starting from the scratch.

"Efforts are on to bring in private investors, and we are preparing to hold an investment conference in Karnali," Shahi shared.

Similarly, Speaker of Karnali Province Assembly Raj Bahadur Shahi expressed confidence that the province government would be able to discharge its responsibilities.

Stating that accountability and transparency are the beauty of democracy, Speaker Shahi argued that people's concerns about federalism should be received positively.
