KATHMANDU, APRIL 4

Nepal Government has decided to begin inoculation of China-donated 'Vero Cell' COVID-19 vaccines from Wednesday.

Earlier, the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi had formally handed over 8 lakh doses of 'Vero Cell' vaccines to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli following its arrival in Kathmandu.

According to the Health ministry, these jabs will be received by those involved in operation of emergency services, traders working across the Sino-Nepal border and Nepali students studying in China or are preparing to pursue education with Chinese scholarship.

The Ministry further shared that frontline health workers and distributors of drinking water and dairy products among others will be jabbed with the Chinese vaccines.

As cases of the respiratory infection continues to rise at an alarming rate in neighboring India, authorities' have warned of a potential second outbreak of the virus in Nepal as well as witnessing a steady rise in the number of fresh cases being reported in Nepal on a daily basis.
