CHITWAN:  Two persons were killed and five others were injured in a lightning incident in Jirauna of  Chitwan district on Monday.

All seven of them were working as labourers in Hari Krishna Brick Kiln in Ratnanagar Municipality-10 of the district.

The deceased have been identified as Dinesh Majhi (16), permanent resident of  Ranjitpur VDC-9, Sarlahi and Rita Rai (24) of Hajariya VDC-5 of the district, said Chitwan District Police Office.

Similarly, Suresh Rai (21) from  Naren Khola in Sindhuli , Umesh Majhi (22) from Ranjitpur in Sarlahi, Nirmal Majhi (16) from Hajariya in Chitwan, Sita Bhijel (23) from Bardibas in Mahottari and Gauri Bahadur Rai (32) from Mantinkhola in Sindhuli were injured after beinghit by the thunderbolt.

The injured are undergoing treatment at the College of Medical Sciences, Bharatpur.

Among the injured, Suresh Rai's condition is critical. Other are in stable condition, said police.

The labourers had gathered in a place and were shielding themselves from the rain when the lightning struck them.
