Nepal on Saturday reported 3,540 new cases of the coronavirus infection from across the country. With this, the Covid-19 caseload has reached 585,100.

The nationwide death-toll has reached 7,799 with 68 Covid-related fatalities reported today.

So far, a total of 2,804,574 people have received coronavirus vaccines across the country where as many as 2,113,080 have received the first dose and a total of 691,494 have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate climbed to 82.8% on Saturday, as opposed to 81.9 % on Friday and the total number of recoveries in the country as of today is 484,373.

As many as 8,243 people who had earlier contracted the disease recovered in the past 24 hours, reducing the the active Covid-19 case count to 92,928.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 1,502 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 5,042.

In the same time frame, 723 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 141 and 73 cases respectively.

There are 730 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

According to the health ministry, 16,814 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 11,471 were PCR tests while 5,343 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,132,591 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

On Friday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 581,560 with 4,624 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 173 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.7 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 156 million people have recovered while more than 13 million cases are still active.
