DHARAN, OCTOBER 22

Province 1 Chief Minister Bhim Prasad Acharya tabled a proposal for seeking trust vote in the Provincial Assembly today.

Province 1 Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari said that voting would take place on the proposal submitted by the CM Acharya on Sunday.

While submitting the proposal for vote of the confidence, CM Acharya did not talk about the politics. He rather informed the PA about the damage of life and property caused by the flood and landslide triggered by the unseasonal rain in the province.

Ruling CPN-UML has 41 lawmakers in the Provincial Assembly. The party has 39 votes excluding the speaker and one absconding lawmaker.

It takes 47 votes to form and prove the majority in the PA.

Meanwhile, opposition parties are preparing to form a new government with the support of 50 lawmakers. Nepali Congress, CPN-Unified Socialist, Janata Samajwadi Party and CPN-Maoist Centre have 21, 10, 3 and 15 lawmakers respectively.

As per the agreement among the five parties at the centre, CPN-Unified Socialist will form the new governments in Province 1 and Bagmati Province under its leadership.
