DIPAYAL: People at the Community Peace Centre at Durgamandau VDC in Doti seem to have hectic schedule as the commoners throng the office seeking justice for the cases ranging from domestic violence to land disputes. Locals say that they prefer resorting to the peace

community as they are quite contented with the community’s verdict.

Stating that it is accessible, convenient and affordable for the settlement of disputes through the Community Peace Centre, a local, Ravi Nepali said, “To go to the police is expensive and difficult as it is time consuming and requires lots of formalities.” He said he was satisfied with the peace community as it solved long standing land dispute with his neighbour, Pabitra Nepali.

Similarly, Nepali seems gratified with the way the peace centre has settled the dispute with her neighbour. Elated Nepali said that resolution of the dispute has helped to promote and maintain mutual relation with her neighbour.

Similarly, locals Bosila Sop and Narma Sherpa too are satisfied with the peace centre as it helped them reunite following a strained relationship that ensued three months ago on a petty issue. Bosila said,” My relation with neighbour has strengthened and we are cooperating with each other.”

Dipak Dhami, chairman, Community Peace Centre, is gratified with the functioning of the committee. He said, “The peace centre has reached the present height because of its working style gaining people’s confidence and cooperation into consideration”.

According to Gowadi Nepali, a member of the Community Peace Centre, the centre has been successful in rehabilitating conflict victims and mediating the warring parties.
