Complaint against UML NA candidate

Pokhara, January 26

A complaint has been registered against UML leader Ram Bahadur Thapa who has filed his nomination for the National Assembly seat from disabled quota from Province 4.

NC candidate Prakash Panth from Tanahun filed complaint against Thapa of Syangja. Panth is contesting the NA polls from the same quota. Panth registered the compliant at the Office of Chief Returning Officer, Pokhara, demanding cancellation of Thapa’s candidacy.

A question has been raised over disabled identity card of Thapa. The complaint reads that Thapa received the ID card in 2001 and since he did not produce the ID card made in line with the new directive, it was invalid.

Thapa, former DDC president of Syangja, was thrashed mercilessly by Maoist cadres during the Maoist insurgency. Thapa, however, said he was receiving state facilities as per the same old ID and process was on to obtain the new ID card.

The Election Commission will give its verdict on the complaint tomorrow, said Gangalal Subedi, regional election officer. All the documents have been sent to the centre for verification, he added.
