DHANGADI, NOVEMBER 26

Nepali Congress has emerged the single largest party in Sudurpaschim Province in the November 20 polls.

The five-party alliance has benefited Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist) in the Province Assembly election, while CPN-Maoist Centre has incurred loss. The Maoists had won three seats in the House of Representatives in the election of 2017, but couldn't win any seat in the November 20 polls this time around.

Home to 16 seats in the House of Representatives, the counting of 15 seats has been completed in the province. As per the latest count, NC has bagged victory in seven seats.

CPN (Unified Socialist) has secured victory in three House of Representatives seats.

NC was allotted nine seats, while CPN-Maoist Centre and CPN (Unified Socialist) were allocated four and three seats respectively. The Maoist Centre lost the polls in Kailali-2, Kailali-3, Kanchanpur-1 and Baitadi-4. CPN (Unified Socialists) secured victory in Doti, Achham-1 and Bajhang.

CPN-UML's seats, however, has shrunk. They have bagged victory in two seats. In the last polls, UML had won 11 seats in the province. Nagarik Unmukti Party has risen in the province. Of the five constituencies in Kailali, Nagarik Unmukti Party has bagged victory in three seats.

In the 2017 polls, due to the left alliance between CPN- UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, Nepali Congress had bagged victory in one constituency. Only NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba had won the polls from Dadeldhura then.
