Nepal has been witnessing a gradual rise in the number of daily reported Covid-19 cases this week. The last four days have seen a constant spike in infections after registering a downward fall in number of reported cases for the last couple of months.

The number of infections has remained constant over 100 for the past few days.

On Friday, there were as many as 156 new infections recorded from across the country. With this, the nationwide infection count has advanced to 276,665.

In the last 24 hours, 55 cases have surfaced in Kathmandu district. Similarly, Lalitpur reported nine cases, while two new cases were reported from Bhaktapur. Kathmandu holds the highest number of cases while Kaski has second highest number of cases, with 24 infections recorded today.

Likewise, 70 people who were earlier infected with the virus are reported to have recovered in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by health ministry.

As of today, 272,342 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate, as such, is 98.4 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 1,299.

The nationwide death-toll stands at 3,024 with four Covid-related fatality reported today.

According to the health ministry, 4,416 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. With this, a total of 2,256,300 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Currently, there are 52 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Thursday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 276,509 with 120 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 126 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 2.7 million people have lost their lives to Covid-19.Likewise, over 101 million people have recovered from the disease while more than 21 million cases are still active.
