Constitution amendment bill won't be withdrawn, says Nidhi

DAMAULI: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi has said the Constitution amendment bill registered at the Parliament would not be withdrawn at any cost.

Nidhi said so while addressing an interaction organised by the Reporters' Club Nepal, Tanahun chapter, in Anbukhaireni of Tanahun district on Friday.

The Nepali Congress leader was on his way to Gorkha today.

Arguing that the bill once registered could not be withdrawn to appease the main opposition, CPN-UML, he said the issue should be settled through a voting at the legislative body.

Meanwhile, Nidhi said the current coalition government was formed to hold all the three elections at local, provincial and federal levels. He also directed his party cadres to prepare themselves for the poll.

He accused the main opposition of blocking the House in a bid to foil the election-friendly environment which the government was striving for.

The move was also against the spirit of federalism, he claimed.

The leader said there was no alternative to taking the dissatisfied United Democratic Madhesi Front on board the Constitution implementation process.
