Cop-vendor fracas; 12 hurt

Pokhara, September 19:

Twelve street vendors were hurt in a clash with the police in Pokhara today.

The clash ensued when the police intervened after the vendors began selling items on restricted spots. The Pokhara sub-metropolis had barred street vendors from selling goods in Chipledhunga, Bhimsen chowk and Palikhe chowk.

Vendors Muskan Banstola, Indra Bahadur Karki, Parwati Karki, Indra Bahadur Shrestha, Shyam Bahadur Pandey, Sabita Karki, Chet Bahadur Shrestha, Ramesh Mainali, Taranath Adhikari, Shanta Gautam, Shanti Thapa and Shanta Pandey were injured. They are undergoing treatment.

Protesting police intervention, the vendors staged a rally in Prithvichowk in the afternoon.
