Cops adopt new narcotics control strategy

District Police Office, Udayapur has come up with a new strategy to control drugs smuggling.
Police took a decision to this effect after the drug abuse and peddling increased in the district.
SP Nar Bahadur KC of DPO said that police will conduct campaign against drug abuse in the first phase and in the second phase take stern action against smugglers. In the third phase, drug abusers will be kept in rehabilitation centres, SP KC added.
SP KC further informed drug smuggling had increased though the police were actively involved in controlling illegal acts. He added that he was quite hopeful that the new strategy would be helpful in controlling the use and smuggling of drugs.
KC said the police team would try its best to curb drug abuse and smuggling in both remote and developed areas of the district. It is said drug abuse and smuggling have increased in the district in the last few years.
Police said illegal drugs are brought into the country via Thadi and Madar, among other places of Siraha. Police also said Corex and, hashish were mostly used in the district. According to police statistics, most drug abusers are schoolchildren.
