Sindhulimadhi, January 10

Police in Sindhuli have taken into custody an aide of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, the self-styled godman, for investigation into allegation of rape and disappearance of people from his ashram.

According to Sindhuli District Police Office SP Rameshworprasad Yadav, Bodhisrawan Dharma Association member Indra Bahadur Syangtan has been taken into custody.

“Wehad called him to Sindhuli DPO to talk to him regarding the alleged murder and rape cases. When he turned up today, we took him into custody for necessary interrogation,” said the SP.

On his part, BDA Chairperson Sundar Ghising described the police action as normal.

“As he (Syangtan) is one of the oldest aides of Bamjan, the police wanted to talk to him. There is nothing wrong on the part of the police to try to learn something from him, as we also believe that anyone in the wrong, must not be spared,” Ghising said.
