Total PCR and antigen tests in the past 24 hours amount to over 5000 infections

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 14

The national active Covid-19 caseload of Nepal climbed to 18,253 on Friday as 4,204 people tested positive for the infection in past 24 hours.

Nepal recorded 4,204 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 845,501 while the death toll reached to 11,613 as three fatalities were recorded today.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 815,653 with 306 discharges logged today.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 20,560 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 13,474 were PCR tests while 7,086 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,981,260 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 883 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 5,087.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 96.5%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 18,235.

Currently, there are 115 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.
