Kathmandu, February 18

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was unanimously elected parliamentary party leader on Sunday. CPN-MC leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara proposed Dahal’s name as parliamentary party leader and Giriraj Mani Pokharel seconded Mahara’s proposal during a meeting held at the CPN-MC’s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar. His election as parliamentary party leader will pave the way for his appointment as the prime minister. Dahal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli have agree to take turns to become prime minister. Dahal will take over the mantle from Oli after two-and-a-half year.

While distributing certificates to his party’s lawmakers elected under the proportional representation electoral system, Dahal said, “The present Parliament is not a traditional Parliament. People have entrusted us with bringing change and you should strive to bring that change. This is the first Parliament after promulgation of the constitution and is different from previous parliaments.”
