Gaighat, June 4

CPN-Maoist Centre Udayapur today finalised the candidates’ names for four municipalities and four rural municipalities for the local elections slated for June 28.

Birendra Magar and Dhunga Raj Oli have been picked for chairperson’s post at Rautamai and Tapli rural municipalities, respectively. Similarly, Major Rai and Suna Rai have been fielded as chairperson and deputy chairperson candidates for Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, while Dev Giri and Nirmala Magar will contest for chairperson and deputy chairperson at Udayapurgadhi Rural Municipality,

Kiran Rai and Gita Khadka are the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates for Triyuga Municipality, Kumar Khadka and Maya Devi Rai will contest mayoral and deputy mayoral posts at Chaudhandi Municipality. Similarly, Raman Bhattarai and Gangasari Rai are the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates for Belaka Municipality whereas KP Baral and Mina Koirala, the mayor and deputy mayoral candidates for Katari Municipality.

However, the party is yet to finalise candidates for the post of deputy chair in two rural municipalities. “We are yet to finalise the candidates in these two rural municipalities because scores of women are aspiring for the post,” said the party’s district Coordinator Diwash Raut. He said that the party would finalise the list within  two to three days.
