CPN-MC will win most seats in Province 2, claims Dahal
Rautahat, August 31
CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today claimed that his party would emerge as the largest force from the third round of local level polls in Province 2, which is slated for September 18.
Speaking to journalists at the Rautahat Chambers of Commerce today, Dahal said that it was a matter of pride for him that the then agitating force Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal consented to take part in the third round of local level polls after the deceased of the Tarai movement were declared martyrs, the injured were provided with free treatment and compensation by the government during his premiership.
Dahal said his party had contributed a lot to institutionalise secularism, federalism, republicanism and proportional representation. He recalled more than 1,300 Tarai people killed during different movements.
“If the Maoist Centre emerges as the largest force, it can address all the concerns of the Madhesi community in its capacity as a national force. Hence, I urge all the Tarai folks to align with the party,” appealed Dahal. He also hinted at possible alliance with other forces for the election.
Dahal also pledged that he would do the needful to address the need for immediate relief and rehabilitation of both the landslide-hit hills and flood-hit Tarai. He said, “The human casualty and property loss could be minimised if the gates of the barrages along the Nepal- India border were opened. Hence, we should seek for long-term solution to such disasters in proper coordination with Indian high level officials.”
