KATHMANDU, MARCH 9

The Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led CPN-Maoist Centre has started holding talks with political parties, including the Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal, about the formation of the next government, their coordination in the Parliament, implementation of the constitution, and other political issues.

CPN-MC Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha told mediapersons after the party's Standing Committee meeting here today that his party would also hold discussion with CPN-UML if need be, but their main focus would be on holding talks with the NC and the JSP-N. The party has not yet decided to withdraw support to the UML-led government.

The two communist parties - CPN-MC and CPN-UML - that had unified under the name of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) - were revived on Sunday after the apex court nullified their unification.

Asked what the party would do regarding CPN-MC lawmakers who had joined the UML, Shrestha said the party would take a call on their status after talking to them.

CPN-MC lawmakers Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekharaj Bhatta, and Prabhu Shah are in the UML and are also members of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli-led Cabinet.

The party also decided to hold its Central Committee meeting on March 13 and a cadres' meeting on March 14.
