CPN-UML to organise mass gatherings in Province No 2

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party CPN-UML is set to organise mass gatherings in the remaining districts of Province No 2 under the Mechi-Mahakali national campaign.

Today's meeting of the Party's Central Secretariat decided to set the programme by coordinating with concerned province committees, said Party Secretary and Chief of Publicity and Publication Department, Yogesh Bhattarai.

The CPN-UML said would launch the campaign in the mid-Tarai districts including Siraha, Dhanusha and Rautahat focusing on the constitution implementation, election, national unity and harmony.

Earlier, the party had launched the Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign from Jhapa district of Eastern Nepal on March 4 which was postponed after the Saptari incident on March 6.

Five cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front were killed in police firing following a clash between police and UDMF cadres in the incident.

The campaign concluded on March 18 after a mass gathering in the Kanchanpur district of the Far-Western Region.
