Hetauda, February 8

The CPN-UML, a constituent of the left alliance, is yet to pick the candidate for speaker of Province 3, while its alliance partner CPN-Maoist Centre has nominated Radhika Tamang as the deputy.

Though the alliance partners had agreed to give both the major posts chief minister and speaker to the UML in the province, they are yet to decide on the matter, while CPN-MC’s provincial committee meeting decided to pick Tamang as the candidate of deputy speaker.

Tamang was a parliament member under proportional representation system in the second Constituent Assembly and was elected as a provincial member from Nuwakot constituency 1 (Ka) under the first-past-the post election system.

The CPN-MC has 23 members in the Province 3 assembly. As Salik Ram Jamarkattel has been proposed as the Parliamentary Party leader of CPN-MC, it has become certain that the party will join the government under his leadership in the province. Jamarkattel was elected as a provincial member from Dhading constituency 1 (ka).
