Ashtalaxmi Shakya had resigned from her post on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 28

CPN-Unified Socialist leader Rajendra Pandey has been appointed the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province following former CM Ashtalaxmi Shakya's resignation.

Shakya had stepped down from her post on Wednesday after having lost the majority required to stay put in the post after 13 UML Provincial Assembly members joined CPN (Unified Socialist).

Governor of Bagmati, Yadav Chandra Sharma appointed Pandey in Shakya's stead after Pandey staked claim to the post with signatures of majority lawmakers in the provincial assembly.

Pandey will be sworn in today itself in a coalition government including ministers from Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre.
