Dipayal, March 19:

The death toll in yesterday’s bus mishap in Sallaghari of Dadeldhura has reached eight.

The dead persons have been identified as Dhirendra Rawal of Belapur; Ram Bahadur Deuba, Nawalpasanha Thakulla and Jaya Bahadur Deuba of Mastamandu; Nara Bahadur Saud of Nawadurga VDC; and Lal Bahadur Saud and Padam Bahadur Nepali of Manilek VDC.

The eighth person killed in the accident is yet to be identified, Dadeldhura Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Lokendra Malla said.

Thirty more were injured in the accident when the bus (Se 1 Kha 604) veered off the road.

Among the injured, eight critically injured were airlifted to Nepalgunj last night for further treatment while 22 are undergoing treatment in Dadeldhura.

Police said overloading was the cause of the accident.

Former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Minister for Labour and Transport Management Ramesh Lekhak were busy in rescue operation till late night yesterday.
