Dang teen dies of excessive bleeding after giving birth at home
LAMAHI: A minor girl died of post-partum complication after delivery at her residence in Dang district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Shiva KC of Laibaruba in Rajpur Rural Municipality. KC delivered at home and was taken to a local health post after she suffered excessive bleeding.
According to Rajpur Health Post Chief Khim Bahadur Raut, the new mother was taken there with acute bleeding caused by the retained placenta (the condition when placenta remains inside the mother's womb).
She was administered saline before being referred to Rapti Academy of Health Sciences (RAHS), Ghorahi, for further treatment. But, she was pronounced dead on arrival at RAHS at 7:00 pm.
Rawat said the death could have been prevented if she was brought to the health post immediately after she complained of labour pain. On the contrary, the condition of her newborn is normal.
"Though we are calling expecting women frequently for regular health checkups and for delivery, the situation is not encouraging," he added.
