DAO probe into Maina’s death begins
Kavre, November 27:
The District Administration Office, Kavre, has begun investigation into the death of a girl, Maina Sunuwar, for which the military court had found some army personnel guilty and slapped six-month jail term. The DAO began investigation on Sunday after a case was filed demanding investigation into the army men’s involvement in the death on par with ordinary citizens.
Maina’s mother, Devi Sunuwar, had filed a case at the police through the administration on November 13. The military court had slapped Colonel Bobby Khatri, Captain Surendra Adhikari, Captain Amit Pun and Captain Niranjan six months of imprisonment and payment of compensation to the victim’s family after finding them guilty for Maina’s death in army custody.
Kamala Adhikari of the Advocacy Forum said her organisation has been following the case and has demanded property confiscation of the guilty and life imprisonment for them.
