KATHMANDU, MAY 23
Dawa Yangzum Sherpa and Phur Galjen Sherpa successfully scaled the 8516 metre high Mt Lhotse at 7:30 am, Sunday.
According to Mingma Sherpa, Managing Director of Imagine Nepal Treks, both the climbers had summitted Mt Annapurna on 16 April.
Dawa Yangzum had scaled Mt Annapurna without oxygen, becoming the first woman from Nepal to summit a 8000m peak without oxygen.
Furthermore, another Nepali woman, Passang Lhamu Sherpa has also made a successful summit attempt to Mt Lhotse.
Pema Doma Sherpa, Nima Jangmu Sherpa, Passang Lhamu Sherpa, Sharmila Tamang and Dawa Yangzum Sherpa are the only women from Nepal to summit Lhotse till date.
Meanwhile, Phur Galjen has completed his 10th 8000er with the ascent.
He has, so far, climbed Everest-8848m, Kanchenjunga-8586m, Lhotse-8516m, Cho Oyu-8201m, Makalu-8463m, Manaslu-8163m, Nanga Parbat-8125m, Annapurna-8091m, Broad Peak-8047m and Yalung Khang 8505m.
