Democracy must for progress: Chaudhary

Kathmandu, Februay 25:

Chairperson of the Raj Parishad Standing Committee Parshu Narayan Chaudhary said democracy is inevitable for the development and prosperity of the country, so a dialogue and consensus should be initiated between all sides concerned to resolve problems.

Speaking at a programme organised by the Jagriti Samaj Nepal here today on the occasion of the 56th auspicious birthday of Queen Komal and the National Democracy Day, Chaudhary appealed to forward the democratic processes for peace and democracy in the country.

Chaudhary presented the ‘National Civil Service Award’ to 23 personalities representing various sectors of national life.

Raj Parishad member Satchit Shumsher JB Rana stressed that for resolution of the present problem facing the country the parties and the Maoists should come for a dialogue as per the call made by the King for the same. Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Golche Sarki said development of the country is not possible without constitutional monarchy and multi-party democracy.
