KATHMANDU, AUGUST 1
Chitwan district has reported 20 cases of dengue fever and 32 cases of scrub typhus in the past 15 days, according to the Public Health Office.
According to the office, the cases were confirmed from 798 blood tests conducted across local health facilities.
Of the dengue patients, 14 were from Chitwan and the rest from other districts, while 23 of the scrub typhus patients were local residents.
Dengue is transmitted by female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, with symptoms including fever, rashes, joint pain, and bleeding.
Meanwhile, scrub typhus, caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi bacteria, spreads through infected mite bites, with symptoms such as high fever, red eyes, cough, vomiting, abdominal pain, and black spots on the bite site.
Health officials have urged the public to maintain cleanliness, wear protective clothing, use repellents, and manage rodents to reduce disease transmission.
