Divorce cases have increased by two-fold this fiscal compared to the last fiscal in Ramechhap district.
Divorce cases filed in the district court had increased after implementation of the new law.
District Court informed that divorce cases had increased in the district after males could file for divorce as per the new law.
As many as 36 males have filed divorce cases in the district court since July-August of last year till date. Staffer at the district court Gehendra Regmi said 54 females had filed divorce cases in the court.
As many as 55 divorce cases were filed last year.
Ramechhap Bar Unit Secretary Yadav Dahal, said foreign employment, family discord, use of social media, among others, were the chief reasons behind the increasing number of divorce cases in the district.
Meanwhile, the court has tried its level best to reconcile couples by calling both the husband and wife to the court.
The court added that a verdict would be given to the couple if they failed to come up with reconciliation. The verdict will be given as per the agreement between the couple within a year after the application was filed in the court.
In the recent years, divorce cases have increased across the country.
