DNA test of three prime suspects negative

DHANGADHI: DNA tests conducted on three prime suspects of Nirmala Panta's rape and murder in Bhimdatta Municipality on July 26, has revealed negative results, police said.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Raj Ojha at District Police Office, Kanchanpur, suspended SP Dilliraj Bista, his son Kiran, and Ayush Bista's DNA test results were negative. The tests were carried out following the demands of agitating local people, Ojha shared.

SP Bista was the then chief of Kanchanpur District Police Office.

After the negative DNA results of the prime suspects, police are investigating the case from various angles, SP Kuber Kathayat said.

Nirmala Panta's father Yagya Raj said, "Even after two months of the incident, the government has so far failed to arrest the perpetrators. Police should ascertain the culprits at any cost."

Earlier, police had conducted a DNA test on framed suspect Dilip Singh Bista, however, the test revealed negative results.

Meanwhile, Women Human Rights activists have staged a relay hunger strike today seeking justice for the 13-year-old victim and demanding the government to publish high-level committee's report.
