BAJURA, JUNE 11

Dr Jasmita Balampaki at Bajura District Hospital, donated blood to Dhan Bahadur Dadal of Badimalika Municipality after he could not get blood for his treatment.

Dhan Bahadur was admitted to the hospital due to lack of blood in his body on Tuesday.

He urged all the people and organisations to give him A+ blood, but there was no one to help him with one pint blood.

Dr Jasmita, who works in the same hospital said that she herself had given blood to Dhan Bahadur after he could not get blood for his treatment. She added that there was no alternative to giving blood to Dhan Bahadur.

A police constable from Armed Police Force has also given blood to Dhan Bahadur.

The visually impaired Dhan Bahadur's wife Basmati requested all to help with the blood for her husband's treatment, but in vain. Dr Jasmita's kind gesture has motivated other health workers at the district hospital, Bajura, to help patients by donating blood.

Ward No 8 Chairman of Badimalika Municipality Chandra Bahadur Thapa said the health workers not only treated patients, but also donated blood and saved them.

Dr Jasmita is a trained medical officer. Nick Simons Institute had sent Dr Jasmita to the hospital in coordination with the health ministry some five months ago.

Health workers said that no one was ready to donate blood to the patient, so we are compelled to donate blood. Nepali Army, Police and APF have also donated blood. Patients cannot get blood on time due to lack of blood bank and Red-cross Society in Bajura.

The emergency delivery service has also been badly affected due to lack of blood.

Lab Assistant Jagat Bahadur Shahi said blood was essential for delivery.
