MYAGDI, AUGUST 13
The Soil Conservation and Watershed Management Office has prepared a detailed project report to control landslides that have put settlements, roads and bridges at risk at Raghuganga Rural Municipality in Myagdi district.
Estimated budget for the project would be Rs 23.4 million, said assistant soil conservation Officer Shambhu Kumar Mishra, adding "We will implement the DPR prepared by geologists in four phases by carrying out a field study. A plan is afoot to contain landslips at Rahughat through various emergency programmes."
Under the programme to control landslips, drainage will be constructed and gorges will be protected and tree saplings will be planted, he said. Around 30 households at Rahughat have been at risk of landslides, said a local Laxman Chalise. The situation has reached the point wherein local people rush to nearby areas such as Galeshwor, Ghumaune Lake, Tilleni and Gayatri temple, for shelter when it starts raining.
The landslips have affected transportation along the Beni-Jomsom road that links Mustang with the national highway through the northern side of Myagdi district, he said.
