KATHMANDU, JULY 31

A strong jolt was felt early Sunday morning in Nepal, with people from various parts of the country reporting yet another 'shaky' experience on social media immediately after.

According to National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the 6.0ML quake with its epicenter around martim birta of Khotang District, was recorded at 08:13 am on Sunday.

As per the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, this quake had a depth of 10km and ran across 65km WNW of Dharan, Nepal up to 26km W of Bhojpur, Nepal.

The international earthquake centre stated that the jolt was felt over 300 km by approximately 29 million people in Nepal and the neighbouring India.

Two other earthquakes have already been recorded in this month of Shrawan (late July). The recent one was measured at Sindhupalchowk with a reading of 4.7 ML while the other one of 4.1 was recorded at Bajura.

No damages or injuries from the earthquake have been reported yet. The last time a quake as big as 6 ML was recorded was in July 15, 2020 (Bhadra 31, 2077 BS) at Sindhupalchowk.
