KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 4

At least 27 people have lost their lives in the Aathbiskot and Sani Bheri rural municipalities in a 6.4 Richter scale earthquake, that struck Ramidanda of Jajarkot at 11:47 PM on Friday. Meanwhile, 37 people have lost their lives in Jajarkot district.

According to the information officer of the District Police Office, Rukum West, Inspector Dharmendra Khadka, there have been 20 deaths in Aathbiskot Municipality so far, while Sani Bheri Rural Municipality-2, Chainabagar, has witnessed the deaths of seven individuals. He also mentioned that they have received information about 46 people being injured in the quake.

As per the authorities, substantial human casualties have been reported in Ward Nos. 11, 12, 13, and 14 of Aathbiskot Municipality and Sani Bheri-2. The focus is currently on rescuing people, and further details about structural damage will be assessed later, as informed by Inspector Khadka.

Nepal Police, municipal police, and rescue teams are actively involved in the rescue operation. Injured individuals are receiving treatment at Chaurjahari Nagar Municipality-9 Rukum Hospital, as shared by Mayor Pushpa Badal.

The earthquake has caused damage to the motorable bridge in Ward No. 1 of Sani Bheri Rural Municipality, bringing complications in the rescue efforts.
