KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has indicated that the School Education Bill, currently under consideration in the Federal Parliament, will be passed following necessary amendments.

He made these remarks during a workshop on 'Nepal's Educational Movement and School Education Bill' organized by the Samajbadi Educational Forum.

Dahal mentioned that the Bill will be enriched further with amendments after discussions with ruling coalition partners and opposition parties. He emphasized that amendments will be based on proposals registered in the parliament and will incorporate feedback from teachers, trade unions, academicians, students' organizations, stakeholders, and parents.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed the government's commitment to implementing past agreements with teachers' associations and other stakeholders. He urged for the development of a positive narrative in the country to prevent brain drain, stressing the importance of producing competitive and quality human resources.

Dahal highlighted the necessity to establish a foundation for qualitative progress in education, emphasizing a focus on quality, competition, and innovation. He underscored the implementation of meritocracy in academic institutions, including universities, and the enforcement of reward and punishment mechanisms to bring about qualitative improvements in the educational sector.

During the event, CPN (Unified Socialist) Vice President Rajendra Pandey suggested that the forum should center its debate on socialism-oriented education.
