Deputy Prime Minister visits Nuwakot; talks about elections

NUWAKOT, FEBRUARY 1

Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel has asserted that election to the House of Representatives (HoR) would be held on the stipulated dates.

Addressing a press conference in Bidur, the headquarters of Nuwakot district, today, DPM Pokharel said that the election would be held as planned and no one should have any doubts about this.

"We should not go after rumours spread by those who do not want the election. These elements are threatening the Election Commission, telling it not to register the parties and run the election programme. The election would not be stopped just because of these pressures and threats," he claimed.

He went on to profess that the mid-term election is being held to give stability to the nation by stopping conspiracies to take the country towards instability and counter-revolution. NCP Secretariat member Pokharel said, decision of the court regarding HoR dissolution should be accepted by all.

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Lekhraj Bhatta, noted that the government had to opt for elections to take a fresh mandate from people to save the party leadership from counter-revolution.

Meanwhile, speaking at a programme organised at the District Administration Office, DPM Pokharel directed the district administration to carry out necessary works to hold the election on the designated dates. He also instructed the government offices to deliver prompt and hassle-free services to the general public, pointing out the need of maintaining inter-office coordination to make the service delivery effective.
