Election fever grips Bara

With the third round of local elections just around the corner, election fever has gripped Bara of late and political parties have intensified their election campaign.
More than others, Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal, which came on board the election process, has launched its campaign on a war footing. While the party is learnt to be holding meetings to finalise its election candidates at the ward level in all 16 local bodies of the district, it has intensified its election campaign in district headquarters Kalaiya.
Besides, parties like Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-MC and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal have also ratcheted up their election campaign now that the elections are just around the corner.
The parties are said to have finalised the names of all of their candidates except those to be declared by the central committees.
Security has been beefed up in the district in view of the upcoming elections. According to SP Raj Kumar Baidawar, police have stepped up border security and checking of late. “As for election security, we will deploy around 3,000 security personnel,” he said, adding, “As the district has only 800, the remaining personnel will be brought from outside,” he said.
